On April 3rd, I went to the Office of the Mayor of DC. I'm trying to understand the appeal process.

(At the Mayor's Office, speaking with staff)

Staff Member: "How can we assist you today?"

Me: "I recently received CCTV footage from HSEMA in response to a FOIA request, but it doesn't show the incident I reported. So, I need to start the appeals process, and I'm trying to understand how it works and my rights."

Staff Member: "Let me direct you to someone who can provide more information."

(Meeting with a representative from the Mayor's Office of Legal Counsel)

Representative: "Hello, how can I help you?"

Me: "Thank you for meeting with me. I'm trying to navigate the appeals process after receiving incomplete footage related to a police matter. I was hoping your office could offer some guidance on how to proceed legally."

Representative: "I understand. However, I need to clarify that the Mayor's Office of Legal Counsel doesn't provide legal advice to the public."

Summary

On April 3rd, I visited the Office of the Mayor of DC. My goal was to understand the appeals process, especially after HSEMA provided CCTV footage in response to my FOIA request that didn't actually capture the incident I reported.

This discrepancy necessitated starting an appeal. Before proceeding, I wanted to clarify my rights and the best way forward. I was hoping the Mayor's Office of Legal Counsel could offer some guidance in this process.

Upon arriving, I was met by helpful staff who provided general information. I also had a meeting with a representative from the Mayor's Office of Legal Counsel. However, she informed me that their office doesn't provide legal advice.
